Have you been thinking about your tooth loss quite a lot lately? If this is your main focus at the moment, we suggest you come in to discuss which tooth replacement treatment will best suit your needs. As you may know, the sooner you replace your missing teeth, the better (for your oral health, your dental hygiene, your daily function, and your appearance). If you’re not sure about your options, we are more than happy to offer up a quick rundown, which we will explain in greater detail during a consultation.
What’s A Dental Bridge?
A dental bridge is a fixed prosthetic device. When we say “fixed,” this means we are going to bond it during placement, so you wear it 24/7. It is suitable for patients who are hoping to replace one tooth, two teeth (side by side), or three teeth (side by side). We cannot offer a bridge to you if you are missing more than three teeth or if the open spaces are separated from one another by remaining teeth.
What Are Dentures?
Dentures are removable prosthetic devices. When we say “removable,” we mean that you will receive support for the device naturally by wearing it over your dental ridge (partials receive additional support from remaining teeth). In addition, you may wear them when you wish and remove them when you wish. Dentures are generally suitable for any patient dealing with tooth loss. If you are missing one or several teeth (but not an entire arch), you make a good candidate for a partial denture. If you’re missing a full arch of teeth (or both arches), you qualify for full dentures
What Are Implants?
A dental implant is a post made of titanium that replaces missing roots after tooth loss. You may replace a single tooth with one implant and one dental crown. Or, you may choose multiple implants to support one of the aforementioned devices (a bridge, partial, or full denture).
