Children’s Dentistry: Always Ask Questions First

While we can easily ascertain from you what’s wrong, why you’re having trouble with your oral health, and more, children do not always have the vocabulary, experience, etc. to help us connect the dots so easily. As you know, this can make your experience with smile care at home more of a challenge, too. Let us help you navigate potential children’s dentistry concerns with greater ease! First things first: Always remember to ask questions.

When Kids Are Resistant To Dental Hygiene

Before you simply assume your kids are refusing to brush and floss just to upset you and make your day difficult, think again: You don’t want to overlook simple details or things that would make you resistant, too! If this part of your children’s dentistry at home is becoming an issue, remember the following questions to ask:

  • Ask your child if something hurts
  • Find out if your child is having a problem with the smell or flavor of a products
  • Ask your child if something else is wrong
  • Ask your child if he or she is tired (attempting dental hygiene when a child is exhausted, it’s past his or her bedtime, etc. can make it very difficult)
  • Ask for our guidance if you cannot get to the bottom of the issue or if your child requires care

When Your Child Is Uncomfortable

Your child may come to you to say he has a toothache. Your daughter may tell you her mouth hurts. Before you jump to conclusions, remember the children’s dentistry suggestion: Ask questions! The problem may not be what you think:

  • Ask your child to point to where it hurts
  • Ask what happened
  • Ask how it feels
  • If you cannot solve the mystery or think something requires our care, please visit us
